What Is Currently Happening

Highlights from the most recent Studio City Neighborhood Council Board and Community Meeting. The projects, decisions, and follow-up meetings shaping the neighborhood right now.

Land Use · Active

The Riverwalk at Studio City Project

A major redevelopment is on the table for the commercial stretch adjacent to the Los Angeles River, an area most of us walk or drive past every week.

  • Location. The properties currently housing Pinz and Carney’s, along with the former Jerry’s Famous Deli and Bed Bath & Beyond sites.
  • Current Status. The development team delivered an extensive project presentation at the SCNC Board meeting, followed by a public Q&A.
Next Step. Discussion continues at the SCNC Land Use Committee meeting on Thursday, April 30 at 7pm, at 4024 Radford Avenue, Building 8, MPR-3.

If you own property nearby, rent in the area, or care about how this stretch of Ventura Boulevard evolves, this is the meeting to attend.

Public Safety · Active

Home Invasion Robberies

In response to a recent uptick in home invasion robberies in Studio City, the Council devoted meeting time to community security.

  • Expert Briefing. LAPD Senior Lead Officer Cesar Gonzalez presented strategies homeowners can use to harden their properties against intruders, including lighting, camera placement, gate and door reinforcement, and reporting suspicious activity.
  • Next Step. The SCNC Public Safety Committee will hold a follow-up meeting to continue developing prevention initiatives. Watch studiocitync.org for the date.
Traffic & Parking · Now Open

Ventura Place: New Parking Is In

The Ventura Place parking redesign is complete. The new configuration went in this week, adding 19 net parking spaces to the block while preserving all existing intersection turn lanes.

For anyone who has tried to find parking near Aroma Coffee or Joan’s on Third on a Saturday, this one matters.

Fire Prevention · Action Required

New Brush Clearance Requirements

Many Studio City Hills residents are receiving brush clearance notices for the first time this year. LAFD Inspector Warren Sutton walked through the new requirements at the meeting and explained how to verify what applies to your specific property.

If you have not been inspected before and you are now being asked to clear, do not ignore the notice. Failure to comply can result in city contractors performing the work at the owner’s expense, and the bills are not small.

About This Page

I’m Debbie Pisaro, a California real estate broker and the founder of Coastline 840. I’ve been a Studio City real estate agent for years, I own a mid-century modern home here, and I attend SCNC meetings because what happens at 4024 Radford Avenue affects property values, parking, fire risk, and the texture of daily life in this neighborhood.

If you are buying or selling in Studio City, or you have a question about a specific street, school, or architectural style in the area, I would be glad to hear from you.
